Design and Preparation of Al2O3/TiC/CaF2 Self-lubricating Ceramic Tool Cao Tong-kun1, a, Shan Chun-sheng 1, b, Ge Jun-peng 1, c 1College of Electromechanical Engineering, Qingdao University of Science and Technology, Qingdao 266061, Shandong, China acaotk@163.com, b shchsh87@126.com, cgejunpeng0515@126.com Key words: self-lubricating ceramic tool, friction design, chemical compatibility, structure design Abstract.
There are three ways of the combination of ceramic matrix and solid lubricant, as Fig.3 shows: (1)The content of lubricant is low, which is completely separated from the ceramic matrix, as Fig.3 (a) shows.
Thus, the self-lubricating ceramic tool materials can get the continuous ceramic matrix and form reticulate structures, and the solid lubricant is coated in the reticulate structures.

Due to the high fragility of the cordierite ceramic substrate, the processing of the shapes after cutting from the original ceramic monolith could not be done perfectly and the shapes obtained are not perfect geometric shapes.
