The result showed that alumina-pillared montmorillonite with 1.83nm of basal spacing exhibited a high catalytic activity for the isomerization of α-pinene, and 97.4% conversion of α-pinene was achievedat 373K for 3hwhen the mass ratio of catalyst to α-pinene was 1/10.
Fig.1 XRD patterns of alumina-pillared montmorillonite and Na-montmorillonite According to Fig.1, the basal spacing of d001 reflection is shifted from 1.28nm of the Na-montmorillonite to 1.83nm of the Al-PILM, which confirms the successful modification of Na-montmorillonite by pillaring.
Conclusions (1) Alumina-pillared montmorillonitewith an expansion of the interlayer distances of 1.83nmwas prepared by intercalation with aluminiumpolyhydroxocation as a precursor into Na-MMT layer space of 1.28nm

The etch rate is targeted in the <0.1-10 nm min-1 range [3].
The etch rate decreases further when the HCl concentration is increased to 1 M.
In Figure 1(b) the etch rate versus HCl concentration is shown.

Fig. 1 Schematic diagram of graft copolymerization Results and Discussions The synthesis design of graft copolymers with different AA and AMPSis listed in Table 1.
H2O/g / ºC Initiator monomers (NH4)2S2O8/g NaHSO3/g ratio AA/g AMPS/g ratio 1 80 75 8 2.7 3:1 20 10 2:1 2 80 75 8 8 1:1 20 10 2:1 3 80 75 8 8 1:1 30 10 3:1 Many factors affect the polymerization process and properties of the final polymer AA-AMPS, such as the monomer mass ratio, reaction concentration, initiator dosage, pH, chain transfer agent, reaction time, stirring speed, the method of monomer addition and reaction temperature.
In this study, the temperature is 75ºC, and the ratio of (NH4)2S2O8/ NaHSO3 is 3:1, the ratio of AA to AMPS is 2:1 and 3:1, the content of monomers and initiator is 34wt%.
