Those papers caused Tonghe Wong’s attention, which conduced to his success in 1894’s imperial civil service examination.
This article and Zhang’s excellent mediatory work during his stay in Korea was very much appreciated by Tonghe Wong, the Grand Minister of State, which is said to be the reason for Zhang’s success in the imperial civil service examination.
In any case, the recognizing from Wong and later working with him was propitious to Zhang and benefited him much in his promoting and enterprise, in both experience and human relations.
