Preface International Conference on Structural Integrity and Failure, SIF 2010 The International Conference on Structural Integrity and Failure, SIF2010, was organized by the Chemical & Materials Engineering Department for the Australian Fracture Group, AFG, and held in the School of Engineering at The University of Auckland, from July 5th -7th 2010.
The conference provided a forum for materials and engineering research groups in Australia, Asia and New Zealand to present and discuss up-to-date research results and findings from their research on fracture and fatigue of all types of materials and structures, including biological tissue, metals, ceramics, polymers, composites and thin films.
The strong international presence at SIF 2010 stems from good links between committee members and overseas friends and colleagues, and especially a very productive collaborative Exchange Agreement between the Schools of Engineering of The University of Tokushima and The University of Auckland.
SMNZI, Society of Materials New Zealand Incorporated, is a collaborating technical society of the Institution of Professional Engineers New Zealand and started life in 1964 as The Metallurgical Society; CACM, the Centre for Advanced Composite Materials is a Research Centre in The Mechanical Engineering Department.
