The morphology, size of the nanospheres and crystal structure of the synthesized hollow CdS were characterized.
The results showed that the hollow CdS nanospheres formed have pure cubic sphalerite structure and exhibit good monodispersity and size uniformity.
The core-shell structure is shown clearly in Fig. 1C.
The SAED pattern (inset in Fig. 1E) demonstrated the details of the local polycrystalline structure, and the concentric rings with d spacings 0.34, 0.20, and 0.17 nm, which corresponded to the (111), (220), and (311) planes of cubic CdS of the zinc blende structure, respectively.
