Therefore, this process will promote TiB2-TiC composite ceramics in engineering applications.
Notwithstanding that the development of single phase ceramic has reached its optimum stage but, the toughness of monolithic ceramic is very low; the applications of monolithic ceramics are rather limited.
In addition, the high electrical and thermal conductivities of TiB2 and TiC make TiB2–TiC composites be attractive for functional applications in high performing electrical systems [10].TiB-TiC have engineering practical value but, it is difficult to formulate composites featuring both ceramics by conventional methods- liquid phase sintering[11], reactive sintering[12], reactive hot pressing (RHP)[13], Transient Plastic Phase Processing (TPPP)[6,14], Self-propagating high-temperature synthesis(SHS)[9,15].
According to [9], to obtain TiB2 and TiC via Ti react with B4C directly, which require very much high temperature about 3200k so, which limit the preparation of TiB2-TiC and engineering applications.
