As-obtained activated carbons were adopted as electrode materials to construct asymmetric and symmetric supercapacitors.
In general, the electrode materials of supercapacitors can be categorized into three types: carbon materials, conducting polymers and metal oxides[3,4]; and the same materials are usually adopted to fabricate the positive and negative electrodes of traditional supercapacitors with symmetric configuration.
The former refers to a supercapacitor involving different materials with different energy storage modes.
