Wong and Teh (1995) proposed a method for determining the shear modulus of soil based on triaxial tests.
The parameter β depends on the soil type, the roughness of the pile shaft, and the pile installation method, which can be estimated using the following formulae (Wong and Teh 1995): (50) where δ is the interface friction angle between the pile and the soil, OCR is the overconsolidation ratio, and K is the coefficient of lateral earth pressure, which can be estimated by K0 (K/K0).
Wong and Teh (1995) suggested βNC = 0.22 if no test data is available.
