The double shear unified strength theory for the plane-strain problem Because Mohr-Coulomb’s strength criterion and other common strength theory couldn’t reflect the effect of intermediate principal stress, YU Maohong constructed the double shear unified strength theory which can consider the intermediate principal stress in 1983, and the formula of the double shear unified strength theory for the soil materials under the plane strain condition can be expressed as [1].
