The goal of this research is to investigate how the grooves routed along the entirely length of old timber members, modifying the grain continuity and the singularities of the beams, may affect the MOE, in order to achieve important information for the strengthening interventions plans and evaluation.
Due to the small number of tested beams no conclusive consideration can be drawn (especially for Grade III); anyway the grade appears to be a good quality indicator for the sampled beams, because the average MOE values decrease, when the Grade increase (Grade I = better quality; Grade III = worst quality).
