Viscoelasticity is the property of materials that exhibit both viscous and elastic characteristics during deformation.
Examples of viscoelastic materials include amorphous polymers, semi-crystalline polymers, bio-polymers, metals at very high temperatures, bitumen materials and living tissue and cells [7].
These materials have the tendency to creep, undergo stress relaxation and absorb energy.
Synthetic viscoelastic materials can be injected directly into an osteoarthritic knee to act as a lubricant and shock absorber.

Literatures [4, 5] investigated three-dimensional surface flaw growth for plate specimens of several kinds of materials including glass, plexiglass and marble in uniaxial compression and studied the influences of interaction of two crack surface of the closed crack on crack growth.
Literature [10] carried out CT real-time scanning tests on rock-like materials-special ceramics specimens to investigate the three-dimensional internal crack growth.
Literature [11] carried out uniaxial tensile tests on rock-like materials to investigate the surface crack growth.
Cement mortar is selected as specimen materials for this experiment because of its convenience, brittleness and easiness to form surface crack or internal crack in specimens.

Asphalt mixtures are described as visco-elastoplastic materials for which the responses of the mixtures to the loads [7], and they are categorized into three groups as elasticity, viscoelasticity and viscoplasticity, depending on whether they are time dependent and recoverable during the unloading period.
Choice of parameters for computations The structure and materials of asphalt pavement shows in Fig. 3.
