Preface With the current development of materials science and engineering, many different cost-effective and high-quality materials have come into use in various applications.
Nowadays, the materials became multi-functional and required improvements and optimizations in their characteristics.
The development of the structure of the material, adapted to each new application needs the understanding of base matter characteristics, the changes in the microstructure and properties of the material during forming processes.
Thus, this volume of the journalMaterial Science Forum” presents to readers the 1st special issue from the series “Current Advances in Materials Applications”, which contains articles covering different aspects of the research the properties of the materials and methods their applications.

It was reported by Andreão et al [17], that adsorption/desorption isotherms type IV are typical of mesoporous materials and that the hysteresis of type H1 is linked to porous materials constituted by agglomerates of spherical particles of uniform size, referring to this the IUPAC nomenclature.

Introduction Municipal solid waste is a refuse composed of various materials with different properties.
Composition of the Testing Materials.
The materials of municipal solid waste are divided into three parts: the material that is easy to be biodegraded, reinforced material that is difficult to be biodegraded and incompressible solid waste material.

However, the method can only deal with constant material properties.
For most materials, the temperature-dependent thermal conductivity and thermal expansion coefficient can be assumed as: , , (4) where Tk is the reference temperature, λ1 and β1 are some constant coefficients.

MCPs are used to produce the bumpers and interior materials of cars in Korea.
This study will show that MCPs can be alternatives for existing sound absorption and transmission materials, as they are economical and practical.
It is the density multiplied by the thickness of materials and is expressed as Kg/m2.
Therefore, through comparisons of the surface density of materials, the acoustic transmission loss of a material can be obtained.
