Translating OEE Measure into Manufacturing Sustainability
Wan Hasrulnizzam Wan Mahmooda, Ilyana Abdullahb and Muhammad Hafidz Fazli MdFauadi
Sustainable and Responsive Manufacturing Research Group,
Faculty of Manufacturing Engineering, Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka,

The findings can be used as an initial reference for manufacturers to consider OEE measure to advance the goal of manufacturing sustainability.
Introduction Increasing costs of materials, energy, and compliance coupled with higher expectations of stakeholders, manufacturing industries are facing challenges and pressures fora more environment- and resource-friendly production.
Consequently, manufacturing can be advanced by efficient use of natural resources, consumption of energy and reduction of production rejects and waste so as to prevent harmful and irreversible effects on the environment.
Manufacturers also may reflect this exploration as an initial reference to consider OEE measure to advance the goal of manufacturing sustainability.

Ultra advanced high strength sheet steel (U-AHSS) can be referred to as twinning induced plasticity (TWIP) steel .
Recently, there has been a dramatically increased interest in the development of a new generation of AHSS, defined as extra advanced high-strength sheet steel (X-AHSS) and shown in Fig.1.

Fig. 3 shows the obtained temperatures at the varying of the tool advancing speed.
As it can be observed the weld obtained with a tool advancing speed of 400 mm/min is characterized a perfect bonding, with the material coming from the thick blank on the retreating side and being shifted to the thin sheet on the advancing side.
