Introduction High strength aluminum alloys have been widely used not only in aerospace and civil industry, but also in transportation and other industries because of their low density, high specific strength, good formability and damage resistance [1].
These studies mainly focused on limit load of structure containing defects and its results are difficult to apply, because in the process of aircraft structure maintenance and repair, engineers could only directly measure the crack size of structure.
In consequence, the limit crack size of aluminum alloy plates under specific loading was studied to built structure safety assessment method for engineering application.
