Introduction Ceramic materials are provided with high strength, high hardness, they are high temperature resistant, corrosion resistance, abrasion resistance, so they have been used widely in the electronics industry, machinery, chemical industry, communications and other fields, however, the ceramic material is a kind of highly brittle material, its flexibility and processability are poor, which limit its further application of the ceramic material.
In order to play fully its performance, the advantages of ceramics and toughness of metal are connected, spraying ceramic coating on the metal’s surface is a great progress on materials research and development.
If sprayed n-WC/12Co coating materials using HVOF on low carbon steel substrate, in the thermal sprayed layer, the original residual stress mainly comes from the rapid cooling and the inconsistency of thermal expansion of the coating and the substrate.
