Introduction
With the development of steel structures especially for the large-space structure, long-span bridge and super high-rise building, more and more advanced construction materials have been produced and applied.

The smart materials have been used to reduce the vibration of structure by active control techniques.
Design of the TbDyFe actuators Using zone melting unidirectional solidification, the Dept. of Materials Science and Engineering of BUAA has investigated the relationship of unidirectional solidification preferred orientation, microstructure and magnetostrictive property of TbDyFe alloys.
The actuators instrumented <110> preferred orientation TbDyFe materials are constructed, which can generate large amplitude of motion. 2.

The loss factors of the materials were measured according to ASTM E756-05 on DongHua data system, which is shown in Figure 1.
