Brass CuZn40Pb2, medium-alloy steel 30CrNiMo8 and high-alloy steel 35NCD16 belong to such materials.
For most materials, this relationship shows constancy.
However, there is a group of materials, for which relation (1) is variable and dependent on the number of cycles.
The proposed model should be a subject of further analyses for other materials and loadings.

Development of multi-scale computation framework to investigate the
failure behavior of the materials
*Z.
With the development of material science, especially as MEMS/NEMS are playing a more and more important role in modern engineering, some mechanical behaviors of materials, e.g., fracture, shear instability, need to be investigated from multidisciplinary perspective.
Though molecular dynamics (MD) simulations have been widely performed to explore the mechanical properties of nano-scale materials, it is impossible to handle not only the loading rate but also the specimen size used in the current MD simulation with existing experimental techniques.
Acknowledgements The support of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) is gratefully acknowledged.

The paper analyses one of possibilities to use new materials based on polyurethane, polypropylene or silicone having highly adhesive contact surfaces for gripping elements designing.
The aim of this new design solution is to replace individual gripping elements (suction cups) by elements, the surfaces of which coming to the contact with the object handled are provided with adhesion materials.
One of possibilities to use these materials as a substitute of standard vacuum active suction cups is presented for handling flat objects of the plate type.

There are up to 160 000 engineering materials to choose from [1]; however, engineers have commonly access to only tenths of different kinds of materials.
Engineering Design-driven Materials Selection Materials selection is driven by engineering design process of a given product.
Optimal combination of materials has the highest value of material index.
