There have a lot of amino and hydroxyl in the structure of chitosan which provide it excellent adsorption to anion after cross-linking modification[6,7].

Abstract.
Scheme for isolation of hemicellulose by alkaline peroxide that an increase in concentration of either acetic acid or formic acid resulted in an increment of hemicelluloses and lignin released, but did not lead to substantial changes in the macromolecular structure of hemicelluloses, except for a partial acetylation and degradation of the polymers.
