Considering the fact that, in general, more activated monomers (MAM) and less activated monomers (LAM) require agents with different structures to support chain transfer mechanism of reaction, there were attempts to synthesize more versatile RAFT agents which can be used in polymerization of both types of monomers and their copolymerization. pH-switchable RAFT agents can exist in neutral and protonated forms and show different activity in MAMs and LAMs polymerization [3].
