Comparing to the IMC phases existed in solder references and its morphological surface, CoSn2 particles are more coarsen compared to the IMCs of Ag3Sn and Cu6Sn5, which have finer structure and distributed uniformly; which translates in better mechanical properties of solder joints [12,13]. 4.2 Composite solder Chan et al. has reviewed the research advances of nano-composite solders that have been develop in the electronic industry [1].

This paper is structured as follows: Section 2 presents the problem statement and an expression for the thermodynamic potential of the material, the extremum of which defines the criterion of brittle fracture; Section 3 presents the method for solving the problem formulated in Section 2; in Section 4, the expression for the thermodynamic potential of the material is obtained; in Section 5, the extremum of the thermodynamic potential of the material is investigated and criteria for the brittle fracture of the material under mechanical and temperature effects on the material are formulated; a discussion of the results of the work was conducted in section 6; The conclusion on the results of work is presented in section 7.
