Engineering Applications The tensegrity apparatus schematically illustrated in Fig. 1 will have utility in many engineering applications, which include the nondestructive evaluation and monitoring of materials and structures (Fig. 3), as well as novel acoustic lenses for biomedical or engineering applications (Fig. 4).
The engineering applications of the tensegrity apparatus rely on the peculiar ability of this device to transform a given incident acoustic signal into either a single solitary pulse or trains of solitary pulses featuring suitably tunable compact support and arbitrarily large amplitude.
