This phenomenon can explain the lower fracture toughness results as the lack of a dual phase structure inhibiting TiC’s ability to act as a toughening carbide.
%TiC to maintain its dual carbide structure allowing TiC to act as toughening agent and deflect crack propagation around or underneath the TiC grains.

Suo et al. initiated the use of nano-structured gold catalysts such as Au/ZSM-5 and Au/MCM-41 for the oxidation of cyclohexane in 2004.
The good activity and stability of the catalyst are ascribed to both the effect of nano gold particles and the structure and the surface properties of activated carbon.

Secondly, the inorganic nanoparticles should have better compatibility with the polymer matrix to achieve homogeneous dispersion composite structure.
(The insert is photo of composite ink with 10 vol% BaTiO3 content after 3 months) The surface chemistry of cubic BaTiO3 nanoparticles with and without the silanization reaction is characterized by FT-IR spectra, as can be seen in Figure 1.

The analysis of the data presented indicates that the optical recording can be carried out in the wavelength range 300-450 nm as well as for the case of the bulk samples [5], while the readout of the recorded structure can be performed in spectral window (640 ¸1100 nm) which is useful for polymer photonics [3].
Experimental results To investigate the optical properties of waveguide structures recorded in PMMA+AntBF2 films we used experimental setups depicted in Fig. 2(a).

Ferromagnetism is observed experimentally in Ge0.99Mn0.01 nanowires due to the presence of oxygen in the formation of Mn-O structures [26].
The resulting connections Mn-O and Mn-C increase the saturation magnetization and Curie temperature, but do not change the structure type and lattice parameters of Mn5Ge3.

The structures of the thienylpyrrole azo dyes 1-2 were unambiguously confirmed by their analytical and spectral data.
The position of this band is strongly influenced by the structure of the compounds, for example by the type of substitution pattern in the donor and the acceptor moieties.

Ultrasound-assisted Extraction of Imperatorin and Isoimperatorin from Roots of Angelica Dahurica Yun Chen, Siyu Yang, Ning Li, Lijuan Zhang, Yu Qian School of chemistry and chemical engineering, the state key laba for pulp and paper engineering South China University of Technology Guangzhou 510640, P R China yunchen@scut.edu.cn Keywords: ultrasound assisted extraction; imperatorin; isoimperatorin; scanning electron microscopy Abstract.
In order to elucidate the extraction procedure and compare the changes of cells structure by using various kinds of extraction methods, samples were taken at the end of the extraction processes for scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis.
These observations suggest that ultrasonic wave has destructive effect on the structure of the cell due to the sudden internal pressure increase and the temperature rise and induces a subsequent change in the surface tension of the cellulose which could cause the plant to crumble or rupture more readily.

Analysis of grain boundary chemistry in Al2O3 Concerning the mechanism of the dopant effects, a couple of ideas have been proposed so far.
A slight change was found in energy loss near edge structure (ELNES) spectra of Al-L1 and L2,3 edge peaks obtained from the grain boundaries and from the grain interior in doped-Al2O3, and such a change can be explained from cation’s segregation in the grain boundaries [24].
In order to make clear the origin of the change in local atomic bonding state, we have and made a first-principle molecular orbital calculation for the Al2O3 corundum structure with dopant cation substituted at Al cation’s site using the DV-X method [25].
