Introduction Many materials had a spatially varying microstructure that led to spatial variation in elastic properties and thus a nonhomogeneous model should be established to meet the needs of describing the material properties.
Recently, authors were interested in the development of graded materials which had spatial property variations deliberately created to improve mechanical performance [1].
In this paper, a FEM model of the crankshaft was established to study the effect of the nonhomogeneous materials properties on the structure strength of the induction quenched crankshaft.
The distributed loads were applied to the connecting rod journal to simulate the explosion pressure.
