The quenching and partitioning (Q&P) process is a novel heat treatment for the development of advanced high strength steels that is raising an elevated interest by steel makers and steel researchers around the world.
These new advanced high strength steels (AHSS) include TWIP steels [1], containing 15-30 wt.% of manganese, and steels with chemical compositions closer to conventional TRIP or DP steels but processed by novel heat treatments, like the high-strength bainitic steels [2-3] and the new quenched and partitioned steels [4-5].

Their combination can therefore be very fruitful and prominent to achieve coatings, which results in their most recent and advanced applications.
Introduction Thermal spray is often considered as a basic and not very advanced process (Fig. 1).
The latter is more advanced and original, though the recent development of LAser Shock Adhesion Testing, namely LASAT.

The conference has gathered more than 200 participants from 22 countries, we had 4 plenary lectures, 12 keynote lectures, 64 regular oral communications and 92 poster presentations to discuss the exciting advances in basic and applied research and application of ceramics in medicine.
We believe that one important role of the conference is to provide opportunities for students and young researchers to promote their own development in the professional forum of an international meeting, which will lead to the continuous development of the field of bioceramics.
We received sponsorship and support from Nagoya University, Graduate School of Engineering, Nagoya University, the Uehara Memorial Foundation and Tokuyama Science Foundation.
