To address the need for new smart materials, this paper explores the use of carbon nanotubes to develop a nanocomposite smart material having electrochemical impedance properties for sensing and actuation.
Introduction Present smart materials and structures have fundamental limitations in their sensitivity, size, cost, ruggedness, and weight.
A new approach to develop smart structures is to develop intelligent electronic materials based on a conductive polymer matrix and carbon nanotubes.
Fabrication of Smart Nanoomposites Because of the CNTs small size and high surface area, fabricating functional macro scale materials has been a major challenge for applications such as high capacity energy storage, sensor materials, and electrochemical actuators.

Introduction The share of composite materials in aerospace structures has increased drastically in the last decades due to the low weight and high stiffness of such materials.
One of the powerful approaches could be the use of high strength composite materials [2].
Riedel W and Harwick W [5] had undertaken extensive researches on the mechanics of composite materials found the constitutive relation of orthotropic composites materials.
