However, some researches showed that the intermediate principal stress had obvious influence on the soil materials[10,11].
As the unified strength theory[12] has taken the intermediate principal stress into account and can be applied to all kinds of materials with different behavior in tension and compression, it is widely available in many engineering field[13-16].
