Interfacial fracture analysis of adhesive-bonded joints Won-Seock Kim 1,a and Jung-Ju Lee2,b 1,2 Department of Mechanical Engineering, ME 3033, KAIST, Science Town, Daejeon, South Korea a goodman@kaist.ac.kr, bleejungju@kaist.ac.kr Keywords: Adhesive-bonding, Interfacial strength, fracture toughness.
The results show that interfacial fracture mechanics characterization of adhesion strength can be a practical engineering tool for predicting the load-bearing capacities of adhesive-bonded joints.
Aircraft, automobiles, and many types of civil infrastructure contain many adhesively bonded components that support various types of loads.
Although many engineers have used stress-based approaches, fracture mechanics characterization is regarded as providing a reliable tool for predicting the failure of bonded structures.

By using FEM method, the natural frequencies of the super-long steel and CFRP cables with possible engineering parameters have been comprehensively studied.
In practical engineering, these assumptions may cause great errors, and because the influence of sag on in-plane and out-plane frequencies is different, in-plane and out-plane vibration of cable have great difference.

FC, when appropriately engineered and cured, has excellent durability and resilience to climatic conditions including freeze-thaw cycles.
The lightweight characteristics and convenient positioning of this material make it well-suited for application in road building, bridge abutments, and several other civil engineering endeavours.
Adequately engineered and well-maintained FC constructions have a lifespan of 20-50 years or beyond.

Analysis on the Influence of Dowel bar at Joints on Load Stress of Pavement Slab in the Pumping Area Bin Yang, Chuantong Cheng, Lifang Huang 1.College of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Guangxi University, Nanning, P.R.China 2.Key Laboratory of Disaster Prevention and Structural Safety of Ministry of Education E-mail:yangbin5612@163.com Key words: joints; dowel bar; pumping area; loading stress Abstract.
The selected parameters of basic modulus are shown as follows: slab surface size of cement concrete pavement is 5m×4m, thickness h=20-32cm, elastic modulus Ec=30000MPa and Poisson ratioμ1=0.15; there is a widening base of 0.5m at longitudinal joint edge compared with the pavement, and thickness h1=0.2m, modulus E1=1500MPa, Poisson ratioμ2=0.20; soil foundation is 1m wide than that around the pavement, the modulus E0 is determined as 120MPa and its Poisson’s ratioμ0 is 0.35 according to the equivalent modulus of resilience calculation on sub-base, course and subgrade in the practical engineer structure.

(2) The low cost and high mechanical properties (including ductility) of steel filaments (or cords composed of tows of steel filaments) when compared to more traditional reinforcement systems like glass and carbon fibres is the main motivation to explore the potential and reliable application of polymers reinforced by steel filaments/cords for civil engineering, automotive, wind turbine and others applications.
