Second and fourth derivative profiles of the NIR spectra were used in understanding the chemistry of adsorption of water molecules and the adsorption processes by the samples.
The strong hydrogen bonds between the –OH groups of cellulose molecules can stabilize the cellulose chain into a highly ordered structure through crystalline packing, giving the good strength and insolubility in most solvent.
The strong acids can easily penetrate into amorphous parts, lead to remove the disordered amorphous fractions and leaves the highly crystalline parts, which exhibits a rod or needle-like structure [2].
Compared to cellulose, CNCs have the same chemical structure, but contain less amorphous part, less degree of polymerization and smaller particle size.
The second-derivative profiles as shown in Fig. 3 revealed more structure lying under the peak.

In this work, the discrete element method (DEM) is used to optimize the interior structure of a particle mixer with multiple baffles to achieve better heat transfer between two particulate materials.
In many processes, the heat transfer efficiency between the hot and cold particles is closely related to the dispersion and mixing of these particles in the devices, and some interior structures are always needed to achieve better heat transfer between these particulate materials.
Fig. 1 Schematic diagram of the downer mixer [9] In this work, the discrete element method (DEM), which has proven to be a simple and effective tool for simulating granular materials [10-14], is employed to investigate the heat transfer of two particulate materials in such mixers to optimize their interior structure.

Result of CBR Test of Subgrade Material The physics and chemistry tests of fifteen groups subgrade materials, coming from the Qing(Dao)-Yin(Chuan) expressway in Hebei province, are done, such as the particle analysis test, the specific gravity test, the liquid limit and the plastic limit test, the compaction and the laboratory CBR test.
The silts contact with each other and the basic structure is single-grained structure.
The clays, attaching to the surface of the silt, especially the silt contact point or the silt contact surface, accumulate around the selves and develop a few cluster structures setting between the silts.
