Introduction
Austenitic stainless steels are typical difficult-to-machine materials [1].
Moreover, the appearances of chips of the worked materials were observed.

All of these experimental observations show that classical continuum mechanics requires to be improved by using higher order continuum theories and additional material length scale parameters, to capture the size dependent elastic behavior of materials at small scales [5-7].

TiN layers have been deposited by Plasma Activated Physical Vapour Deposition method (PAPVD) in ECAM-France and NCD layers by Plasma Activated Chemical Vapour Deposition method (PACVD) in the Institute of Material Science at the Technical University of Lodz-Poland.
For this reason, pure magnesium is rarely used by itself, however with other metals (e.g.: aluminum, zinc, manganase, cerium, zirconium and rare earth metals) it forms alloys, which are very attractive constructional materials.
The process of manufacturing has been realized in the Institute of Materials Science at the Technical University of Lodz-Poland using a multi-source hybride industrial device type URM 079 (Fig. 2a), which allows to deposit layers by physical plasma methods.
Nanohardness Investigations of TiN and NCD Layers Nanohardness of TiN and NCD layers has been measured using a Nano Test 600 meter (Micro Materials Ltd., Great Britain) equipped with a diamond pyramidal penetrator [2].
