Most of the current literatures present experimental results when turning and drilling of ceramic-reinforced MMCs or graphite reinforced MMCs.
However, limited information is available on the milling of graphitic ceramic-reinforced composites.

The welding process was conducted using a ceramic root backing and run-on/run-of plates were used for starting and ending the weld, Fig. 1.

As with the excellent synthetical performance such as high strength, heat resistance(1670-1770K), good thermal conductivity and chemical inertia on iron and its alloy, PCBN has become a much more appropriate engineering material[2],which is suitable for high speed machining especially .The mechanism of tool wear has become more complicated with the increasing speed and temperature[3-7].
