The double cantilever beam has been widely used in the past and has proved one of the most popular designs for measuring the growth rate of stress corrosion cracks in materials.
Material All tests were carried out on aluminium alloy 7075(W) in the form of 18mm thick plates.
Letter ‘W’ refers to material that has been solution treated, water quenched and naturally aged at a room temperature.
The precipitates may be either anodic or cathodic to the surrounding material, depending on the alloy composition.
