Preparation of iron carbide from high phosphorus oolitic hematite

Abstract: In order to find a new way to utilize the high phosphorus oolitic hematite ore as raw material for steelmaking, the reduction and carburization of high phosphorus oolitic hematite by the gas of CH4-H2 were studied.
Experimental Raw Materials.
Hematite and quarts are the main phases in the raw materials, which is identified by X-ray Diffraction Analysis, as shown in Fig.1.

With the recycle of emulsion, these non-ferromagnetic materials would be gathered in emulsion, affecting the emulsion property; Therefore, purifying emulsion should include the removal of these impurities, which can not be removed by the magnetic filter.
A new method of emulsion purification is established in this article for removing both ferromagnetic and non-ferromagnetic materials.
