Since the introduction of the enriched discontinuous solutions into the finite element basic functions helps to avoid tedious remeshing requirement involved with the crack propagation or complicated crack geometries, the X-FEM has now been widely adopted by civil, mechanical, material and aerospace engineering disciplines all over the world and is used to accurately determine the level of performance and safety of cracked structures.

The cooperation between two governments maintains stable and the civil cooperation keep active as well.
Upon consultation with academicians from Chinese Academy of Engineering and bibliometric experts from Thomson Reuters, the research team identified retrieval keywords such as carbon dioxide sequestration, pre-combustion capture and oxygen-enriched combustion, and has identified the number of papers and patent applications of respective countries in the field of clean coal technologies by retrieving Thomson Reuters Web of knowledge (2006-2011) and Thomson Reuters Derwent World Patent Index (2005-June 2012).
