Furthermore, the milling speed used was in the low or moderate level and never exceeded 300/min for SiCp/Al composites.
Therefore, it is recommended that appropriate negative rake angle should be chosen when high speed milling SiCp/Al composites.
Cutting vibration was very severe due to the tool cutting the hard and brittle SiC reinforcement and the relative “soft” Al matrix and the very high cutting speed used.
Negative rake angle and relatively large tool nose radius were recommended when high speed milling SiCp/Al composites as far as cutting forces was concerned.
