The results showed that the production of nano-composite materials using SHS process is feasible and agree well with the thermodynamics calculations.
Introduction Silicon carbide is one of the most important non-oxide ceramic materials which are produced on a large scale in the form of powders, molded shapes and thin film [1-2].
Experimental The raw materials used in this study were Mg (Riedel-deHaen, 99.0%), activated carbon (Ajax Finechem, 99.0%), SiO2 (Aldrich, -325mesh, 99.6%), and NaCl (Lab-Scan Analytical Science, 99.0%) powders.

For example, in the
case of machining hard-brittle materials, compared with traditional grain tools, diamond tools have
displayed unique superiority in machining quality, efficiency and tool life.
Consequently a new technology to radically improve the combining strength between bonded materials and grains is thirsted for a qualitative rush in the machining performance of diamond tools.
The machining objects are such hard-to-machining materials with high brittleness and high roughness as stone, ceramics and armoring compound board.

Laser peening is applied to various materials in order to improve the fatigue life of the parts mainly.
Stainless steel has been known as the heat-resistant and the corrosion-resistant materials and can be hardened scarcely by quenching.
Nowadays, the downsized and the light weighted parts with good mechanical properties have been desired in the world, because of the effective use of the materials.
