Non-oxide composites are interesting materials for long term applications at high temperature under oxidizing atmosphere.
Introduction Space and aeronautic applications need light materials with good mechanical properties even at high temperature.
For example in airplane engines, the materials have to maintain their good longterm mechanical properties under high temperature and oxidizing atmospheres even when subjected to complex mechanical loads.
