For example, civil aero-engines go through a
routine cycle on every flight (with flight times of up to ~12 hours), with peak operating
temperatures for short periods during take-off and landing.

The FGM are actually used in various fields such as medicine, civil engineering, aeronautic and aerospace.
By dividing the transverse displacement into bending, shear and thickness stretching parts, the number of unknowns and governing equations was reduced, significantly facilitating the engineering analysis especially for predicting simply the bending and the free vibration response of FG plates.
