Large quantities of mined ore materials are processed annually to obtain the various types of minerals that are essential to industrial processes.
Due to its execution simplicity and low cost, upstream tailings disposal has been the most common method used for the surface disposal of tailings produced from processing the mined ore materials.
Las Palmas mine was closed and the tailing area partially covered with a thin layer of gravelly material (refer with: Fig. 3).

A Styrian consortium with experts in materials, tools and machining has been formed to extend the tool life in machining of titanium alloys.
The thermomechanical properties of this group of materials, especially the high specific strength by a very low breaking elongation (A = 0.5 % to 15 %) combined with a very low thermal conductivity are the challenges for milling or chipping in general.

With the advancement of science and technology and more maturity of the new materials, the new building materials with high technology will be widely used in the green residential building, such as the green materials that can improve the indoor environment, including the materials that benefit people’s health, adjust the temperature, humidity and light of the room, and shield electromagnet.
In the choice of materials the designer should choose raw materials that have less impact on human health, including non-radioactive, low volatility, low active materials.
