Next-generation mega-carrier aircraft or supersonic transport aircraft will make extensive use of advanced composite materials in both primary and secondary structures, and are likely to use mechanically fastened joints.
The present paper will consider the results of strength tests and analysis of 3-D braided materials made of carbon/epoxy using resin transfer molding (RTM).

The essential of balanced cross section is to restore under restraint conditions. a) the principle of “area conservation” is used when the direction of the cross section is consistent with the direction of tectonic movement and the materials have not been transported out of the section ; b) the principle of “side length conservation” is used when the formation thickness keeps constant during deformation and its side length also keeps constant ; Obviously, different balance principle is required to apply to different geological conditions.

Functionally graded materials (FGM) have been investigated extensively since 1984.
These results show that to combine mechanical properties in a component, functionally graded materials and micro-nano-composites can be a solution.

The starting materials were α- Al2O3 and TiCN powders with purity 99.9%, Ni and Mo were used as the bonding phases, MgO and Y2O3 as sintering additives, as shown in Table 1.
