Glycyrrhizic acid possess antioxidant activity which combining with its capacity to activate the antioxidant systems results in reduction of the level of free radical induced lipid peroxidation and thereby stabilizing the cellular membrane structure.
Amelioration of Paracetamol induced hepatotoxicity by SN-GLY or GLY-Ag It can be seen from the data presented in table 1 that the levels of serum glutamate oxaloacetate tansaminase (SGOT), serum glutamate pyruvate transaminase (SGPT) and bilirubin were significantly elevated in the paracetamol treated animals when compared to the control untreated, indicating induction of hepatic damage due to the paracetamol administration.
