PREFACE
This volume contains papers selected from more than 120 contributions presented during the
4th international conference "Materials Structure & Micromechanics of Fracture (MSMF-4)",
Brno, Czech Republic, June 23-25, 2004.
The basic idea was to establish a periodical international forum presenting multiscale approaches in fati gue and fracture of materials.
Nearly 150 scientists from 2 1 countries all over the world presented a vari ety of multiscale approaches in modeling and testing deformati on and fracture processes in engineering materials.
It is my pleasure to thank the editorial board of the journal Materi als Science Forum fo r the readiness to publish this vol ume devoted to MSMF-4.

Abstract: The material for ink-jet printing is very extensive, but now paper media is the most commonly used one, because the image of glossy ink jet paper printed clear and bright, shiny, light fastness and excellent color fastness in the aspects of indoor display packaging.
Introduction The inkjet printing is no contact, no pressure printing technology, the substrate of it is extensive, the substrate can be in the shape of the surface and its printed material can be glass, plastic and metal materials [1], but the most commonly used one is the paper medium, that is the ink jet printing paper, general the use of more is matte and high gloss ink-jet paper.
Experimental Material and Method.

This high velocity water jet beam can be used to cut soft materials such as rock, plastic and wood.
In this case, water is no longer the cutting medium but the accelerating medium that transfers its momentum to abrasive particles (made from materials such as garnet, alumina and silicon carbide) which are entrained into a so-called mixing chamber from a hopper.
This high energy abrasive stream can cut through almost all kinds of materials, including diamonds.
Typical abrasive water-jet cutting head Being an energy-concentrated, heat-easily-taken-away cutting tool, AWJ has many superior advantages inherently, especially for machining high-strength materials, comparing with other machine tools.

For these reasons, more and more researchers studied the denitrification performance with solid materials as carbon source[8-10].
These studies showed that solid carbon materials can not only satisfy the carbon requirement of the denitrification process, but also can be used as biofilm carrier.
Materials and methods experimental setup and operation method As shown in Figure 1, the reactor consisted of a conical flask with a working volume of 0.5 L which was filled with the 5 mm×5 mm× 5 mm cubic corncob carrier material up to 60% of its working volume.

They are the costs to reduce the environmental pollution and materials depletion to a level which is in line with the carrying capacity of our earth. These costs have been estimated on the basis of technical measures to prevent pollution and depletion of materials and energy to a level which is sufficient to make our society sustainable[6].

In the nearly three decades, application of inorganic solid electrolyte materials in battery is a hot spot of research in the worldwide, especially the system of lithium conductive ion.
Experimental The original glass with composition of 14 Li2O-6 Al2O3-3 La2O3-38 TiO2-39 P2O5 in molar ratio was prepared by the melt quenching method using chemical reagents Li2CO3, Al(OH)3, La2O3, TiO2 and NH4H2PO4 as raw materials.
