Titanium particulates were selected as suitable reinforcements in this study because they had high hardness and Young's modulus compared to the magnesium alloys used as the matrix, and also showed better ductility than those of ceramic particles.
On the other hand, a dispersion strengthening effect is also useful to obtain not only higher tensile strength but also significantly high Young's modulus and hardness by selecting suitable ceramic and intermetallic reinforcements such as SiC, TiC, TiB2, and carbon [24].

Piezoelectric Vibration Energy Harvester in Electric Vehicles Shanshan Li 1, 2, Zhengbin Wu 2, a, Yikun Su 1 and Kui Xi 2 1 Shenzhen University, College of Materials Science and Engineering, China 2 Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China azb.wu@siat.ac.cn Keywords: vibration energy harvester; piezoelectric vibrator; battery charging; electric vehicles.
Lead zirconate titanate (PZT-5A), one of the most commonly used piezoelectric ceramics with its high electromechanical coupling coefficients and piezoelectric constants, and excellent time and temperature stabilities, is suitable for this piezoelectric vibration energy harvester for EVs at low frequency below 50 Hz.
Sinusoidal signal with various frequencies under 50 Hz was generated with a LMS-SCADAS platform (LMS International, Belgium), which was enhanced with a power amplifier YE5872A.
