Engineered Material Arresting System (EMAS) is the specified equipment used to prevent aircraft from overrunning.
The EMAS composed of foam concrete blocks is the professional ground equipment for arresting large civil aircraft as shown in Figure 1.
The resistance force is obtained firstly by engineering empirical formula, then it is compared with numerical calculation result.
Through iterative computations, when errors between the engineering and the numerical calculation result is less than a given value, the load on each wheel is finally determined.
