Preface The international conference Advanced Materials and Structures - AMS 2011 is the fourth edition; first one in 1998, of a scientific event organized by the Department of Materials and Manufacturing Engineering from the POLITEHNICA University of Timisoara, with the support of the POLITEHNICA Foundation.
The conference has the aim to cover by its topics the broad domain of advanced materials, with all important aspects: technology of fabrication, property characterization, advanced applications, investigation and mathematical modeling.
The sessions of the conference are also meant to be a forum of scientific debate and discussion.
Mircea Nicoară, Head of Dept. for Materials and Manufacturing Engineering - Secretary of AMS'11 Assoc.Prof.

We introduce the advanced Japanese "5S" management model in the on-site management of the engineering training.
We let students to listen to the engineering story, look at the actual engineering and engineering content, in order to stimulate interest and curiosity to study engineering.
Therefore, creating the new mechanism like joint training between universities and enterprises, let students learn advanced technology and corporate culture, and participate in technical innovation and engineering development by deep cooperation between university and enterprise, in order to improve the sense of social responsibility of students serving our country and people, also improve the innovative spirit and problem-solving ability.
During the teaching, advanced teaching philosophy, teaching methods and assessment methods were introduced; also cultivation of students' practical skills and the ability of analyzing and solving problems was focused on.

Preface International Conference on Structural Analysis of Advanced Materials (ICSAAM - 2009) The increased use of advanced materials in high efficiency structures - electronic devices, medical equipment, planes and vehicles - requires improved reliability, resistance to degradation, failure and life-span forecasts under a wide variety of loading conditions.
The development of materials with advanced structural properties is becoming a key factor in industrial and technological progress.
The aim of the conference is to provide a forum for engineers, and researchers, scientists and industrial experts, to present their work and discuss the present situation with regard to advanced and associated technologies, experimental techniques, numerical analyses and recent developments in the field of advanced materials.
ICSAAM 2009 will include conferences by internationally renowned researchers as well as oral and poster presentations covering aspects of research and advanced material technology.

Preface Since the previous symposiums held in Hong Kong (1992, 2000), Beijing (1994), Hiroshima (1996), Seoul (1998), Sydney (2002) were so successful and fruitful, AEPA has now become a major biannual event in the field of engineering plasticity.
The Seventh Asia-Pacific Symposium on Engineering Plasticity and Its applications (AEPA2004) held on the 22nd to 26th September 2004 at Shanghai Jiaotong University, PR.China, provides a free forum for exchanging the new ideas, communicating the research information and presenting the latest advances to the researchers and the engineers in this field.
This proceedings contains 192 papers selected from more than 300 submissions, covering a wide range of topics including damage and failure, constitutive modeling, rate-dependent and time-dependent behaviors, micromechanics, fatigue evaluation, numerical simulation technique, advanced materials, forming and machining, superplasticity, and structural stability.
