Modern engineering problems are often composed by a large number of variables that must be chosen simultaneously for better design performance.
In the literature, different approaches based on optimization methods have been proposed to design system engineering.
This strategy is a collection of statistical and mathematical methods that are useful for the modeling and analyzing engineering problems.

Journal of Materials Engineering and Performance. 22 (2013) 184-189. ] Carbon nanotube (CNT) study was firstly published by Iijima in 1991.[[] S.
It's generally used as a variety of substrates (polymer, metal, cement, ceramic, etc.) of the reinforcement in electrical and thermal properties researches.
With the large-scale production of carbon nanotubes, their applications are more and more in all kinds of engineering materials and sensors.
Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part N: Journal ofNanoengineering and Nanosystems. 225 (2011) 17-22. ] studied the impact of carbon nanotubes on the flexural properties of cement-based materials, and found that 0.25%, 0.5% and 0.75% MWNTs addition increased the flexural strength of cement by 30.76%, 37.93% and 43.75%, respectively.
These studies provided important theoretical basis for the application which MWNTs cement-based composites were used as stress sensors in civil engineering.
