Introduction
Traditional alloying can be used to increase strength and ductility of Mg.
Accordingly, the primary aim of this study was to: (a) strengthen the Mg-Al bimetal macrointerface by design and (b) assess the consequent effects on microstructure and mechanical properties.
Magnesium / aluminium macrocomposites containing Mg / alloy shell and Al / alloy core can be synthesized using a combination of the DMD method and top-pouring, followed by hot coextrusion. 2.

One of them is by reducing long-range ordering or grain size of intermetallic
compounds [1, 2].
Nowadays, mechanical activation has come to the fore in fields such as the production of intermetallic compounds [4, 5], supersaturated solid solutions [6], amorphous materials and metal matrix composites.

The paper present some general aspects regarding results obtained by ISIM Timișoara at FSW of steel alloys, with wide use in important industrial fields.
Experimental Program The experimental programs for the FSW steels were carried out at ISIM Timișoara, ensuring more severe technical and technological conditions, compared to those from the welding of light alloys (except for titanium alloys)
It has been shown that, when applying the FSW process to welding S 420MC steel, granulation refining in the nugget is obtained, similar to aluminum alloys.
Under the shoulder of the welding tool and under its action, a darker area (A) was formed in which it is possible to have formed intermetallic compounds or other formed compounds, due to excessive wear of the tool during the action of the tool on the base metals.

However, magnesium-based alloys are
susceptible to galvanic corrosion and thus the use of magnesium and its alloys is severely limited [1, 2
,3].
Due to environmental hazards of chromate compounds, environmentally acceptable alternative chemical conversion coatings have been explored [14].
The aim of this work was to develop the phosphate and stannate conversion treatments on die-cast AZ91D magnesium alloys and to study the surface pretreatment technology, the composition and morphology of the chemical conversion coatings and their corrosion resistance.
