The benzoin condensation reaction under different ultrasonic frequency and phase transfer catalyst

Abstract: This paper summarizes the method of benzoin condensation reaction, and studied the influence of benzoin yield under different ultrasonic frequency and phase transfer catalyst, Experiments prove that benzyltriethylammonium bromide is the best phase transfer catalyst in three catalysts and the benzoin yield increased with the increase of ultrasonic frequency.
Benzoin condensation reaction of classic usually used sodium cyanide or potassium as catalyst[1],but these materials are poisonousness.
Operating steps Take a 50 ml dry and clean round bottom flask, add VB1 2g, ethanol 8ml, distilled water 2ml, until all the materials are dissolved.
