When comparing with the other composite materials, the micro-structure of concrete has its own features: the cracks often happen at the interface due to the dramatic strength difference between the aggregates and the mortar.

Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) combining unique mechanical and physical properties could offer a kind of nanosized reinforcements for composite materials.
Introduction Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have attracted remarkable attention as the ultimate nanosized reinforcement for composite materials because of their exceptional mechanical, thermal and electronic properties [1].
It could be drawn that CNTs have not changed into other types of carbon materials, e.g. graphite, diamond etc. and can be used as reinforcements in spark plasma sintering process.
