This often leads to joint strengths considerable below the tensile strength of the base materials.
Hence, in a first step the Institute of Materials Science and Engineering has investigated the applicability of friction stir welding for joints between the die cast magnesium alloy AZ91 and the rolled aluminum alloy AA5454.

In this experiment, materials were used silver nitrate (AgNO3) as main raw material, ethylene glycol (EG) as a solvent, small amount of sodium chloride (NaCl) as a mediated agent, while polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) as a capping agent to assist the growth of AgNRs.
Products of material science and engineering in nano-scale may be in the form as nanoparticles (NPs), nanowires (NWs), nanorods (NRs) and nanotubes (NTs).
Experimental Materials and Preparation of AgNRs: Materials used in this study consisted of silver nitrate (AgNO3, Mw. 169.87, PT.
