Introduction
Recently, semiconductor materials have attracted increasing attention in applications of water or air purification as friendly environmental photocatalyst [1–3].
Among the semiconductors employed, ZnO is one of most effective photocatalytic materials owing to their lower toxicity, inexpensive, excellent physical/chemical stability and high photocatalytic activity similar to TiO2 [4].
Analytical grade ZnSO4•7H2O and Na2CO3 were used as the main materials for the synthesis of ZnO photocatalyst. In a typical procedure, 100 ml of 0.2 mol/L Na2CO3 was dripped into 100 ml of 0.2 mol/L ZnSO4•7H2O aqueous solution under magnetic stirring at 80°C.
